An endeavor to give back to society through an act of kindness
COVID-19: Act of Kindness in Uncertain Times
Coronavirus, with its worldwide spread, has almost disrupted the day-to-day activities of the whole world. People are facing a lot of issues during this pandemic, be it food, medicines, masks or sanitizers. In this time of distress, there are several people around the globe like Volunteers from NGOs, Medical Practitioners, Celebrities, Police, Army who are extending their helping hands and supporting those in need. The fear of the novel coronavirus pandemic has escalated as the cases have sky-rocketed recently. While most people around the world have taken to be isolated inside their homes, quarantining themselves and maintaining social distance, many other people around the world have taken to spread a lovely aura of kindness during tough times in an attempt to imbibe hope and motivation, besides being helpful and cooperative.
We, at Valleyshipians, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai residents, planned to do the Act of Kindness, we did an online donation drive from the residents who are willing to part some money for the needy. We collected Rs 1,500 per family from the residents and bought dry ration which included (Wheat, Rice, Edible Oil, Pulses, Soaps, Salt ) from D- Mart. On their part D-Mart, Kharghar did a wonderful job by packaging it in different sizes. Our first phase of distribution drive started on 9th April 2020 in Kharghar Sector 13 Chawl, where we delivered over 40 packets of dry ration to the needy. It was truly the best moment for all of us to serve the needy during these tough times. Our second phase of donation drive of 140 packets of dry ration will start soon.I commit to showing kindness by:
- Supporting others: such as maids, needy people who need food
- Being socially responsible: no panic buying, helping to make sure there’s enough of everything to go around, not spreading misinformation and unofficial advice, and showing kindness and compassion in all my interactions
- Saying “thank you”: showing gratitude to others who are taking action to help keep us well and safe
